Heaven and Earth, in collaboration with My Grandma's Home Cooking, invites you to an exceptional day combining a market visit, a hands-on outdoor cooking class and a gentle countryside ride.
MORNING: MARKET VISIT AND COOKING CLASS
Your day starts with a guided visit to the Hoi An market
, a great way to discover local produce, their role in Vietnamese cuisine and traditional uses. Then enjoy a scenic 40-minute boat ride on the Thu Bon River to a small typical village where you begin your cooking class
under the coconut trees. You will also learn traditional techniques and tools used to process rice after harvest.
You will make your own rice paper and prepare four Vietnamese dishes:
- Marinated pork skewers
- Banh Xeo
- Papaya salad
- Vietnamese-style fish
Vegetarian menu available on request.
AFTERNOON: CYCLING AND COUNTRYSIDE DISCOVERY
After enjoying the meal you cooked, set out by bicycle from island to island back toward Hoi An. Along the way, make several stops to learn about daily life in the countryside: visit a wooden-boat building yard, see how basket boats
are made and used (and try one on a quiet river through a water coconut forest), watch colorful sleeping mats
being woven by hand, discover mother-of-pearl inlay, and step into a traditional family house to talk about beliefs, superstitions and local customs.
